Roberto Ricci Designs’ new ‘Fast Wave board’ line is designed to plane early and accelerate like a freeride board but turn smoothly on wave faces – plus of course to be fast!
The new shape combines a long flat section of rocker line with a new wave outline developed for the highly successful 5th generation of Wave Cult boards.
The volume placement see the maximum thickness in the footstrap and tail sections for a quick planing surface combined with a reduced tail outline, compared to a freestyle wave board, that increases turning capacity and control at high speed.
All the FIREWAVE boards (82, 92 and 102L) are equipped with a 3-fin setup designed exclusively by Maui Fin Company.
The new fins are very upright, similar in outline and shape to the Quad fins on the V5 Wave Cults, creating drive in turns on the wave, but also a quick planing capacity and top-end control.
RRD say they open up a whole new way of riding a wave board, especially on marginal days when speed can be carried through turns. Available in either solid full WOOD construction or a super lightweight LTD version made with Innegra Carbon fibers and PVC sandwich foam.
